Road of my life

Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner (by rogershipp) is a weekly writing challenge designed for both the flash fiction newbie and the more experienced writer. It is the desire of this challenge to allow writers the opportunity to clear the cobwebs from a more tedious and involved project. Becoming a part of a new and growing writer’s community might be just what the doctor ordered to rejuvenate your writing juices

Road of my life wasn’t smooth sailing
Things around the world are baffling
I’ve gone through a lot of crisis
I have to prove my braveness
I was given severe trouncing
Life could be tough and gruelling
Experienced some force of nature
Like fire, typhoon and earthquakes
I had to fight to live and survive
That’s probably how I thrive
Never mind the irony of the situation
I’m fully sympathetic to the plight of others
I understand what they were going through
I comprehend their issues on crossing borders
Thanks to my experience, I’ve got deep insight

All my life, I’ve always been a traveller
It makes my life better and brighter
From morning till night, I’m on the road
Be it wet, sunshine, rained or snowed
To infinity and beyond is not impossible
Riding a horse, elephant, cattle or camel
For I’m always on a mission, bent to go
Saying hello, heigh-ho and heave-ho
Over the woods and far away, new places
I might stumble, fall over, sit on benches
Overgrowth and undergrowth, it’s the same
I can proclaim, acclaim but not defame
I have to travel, one way or another
Until I reach a certain boarder
I met people on my way, ages ago
They’re still part of my life as I go
