If I ever leave this world alive
I’d laugh and generate a feast
I’d look at life like an archive
I’d find a reason why I exist
Escape from empty living
Resembling the ghost of the past
Live the day like it’s my last

If you find a reason why we exist, let me know. Nice take-off from the song. ❤

Love your poem, Lady Lee! A good resolution – we should all live each day like it’s our last.

I wonder if there is something better there beyond or if we leave this world alive and realize we’ve missed it all.

The first line and the last line have an nice incongruity between them. As I interpret them, only if I can leave the world alive are all the things in the remaining lines possible including being able to live today, before I have left, as if it were my last. Enjoyable.
