Record – Daily Prompt

IMGP1246

What if I wasn’t sitting on that bench that day?
Or you were elsewhere when I was there?
What if I didn’t bump into you in the bookshop?
And saw that we were reading the same book?
That I ran away when you said “Oh, hello”?
What if the letter didn’t get jammed in the mailbox?
And you didn’t come to help me get it out?
What if we didn’t like and have the same record?
And talked for hours about our likes and dislikes?
What if we didn’t held hands by the moonlight?
And promised each other that no matter what
We’re there for each other. I’d like to know…
If things were different…. what if…?

She always said it was precious
That angel made of pink quartz
It’s a brilliant cut, an elegant piece
It’s got power and high energy as well
The wings climbed high in the sky
It’s for love and all types of love
That’s what Aunt Matilda believed
When she gave it to me as a heirloom
Will bring you luck and prosperity
So look after it, she added

Years later, I found it in the attic
That angel made of pink quartz
It’s a brilliant cut, an elegant piece
Covered in dusts, among the others
I remembered Aunt Matilda and thought
Perhaps it brings luck and prosperity
Now that we need some extra money
To pay some debts and mortgage
So off we went to auction house
And had it valued by the experts

We waited in anticipation
On the day of the auction
The auctioneer described it
Some people on the phone
Some people with their cards
They bid a world record price
Higher and higher the bid went
An astonishing amount it achieved
For that angel made of pink quartz
It’s a brilliant cut, an elegant piece
