The girl and the invisible door

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “A Song for Soweto” by June Jordan: throat, claw, shred, tongue, sing, cry, crawling, homeland, swallow, spirit, erase, stay

The girl and the invisible door
Waiting to be with her amour

She sings and cries her heart out
Erasing what happened no doubt

In the spirit of her homeland
When they’re together it’s grand

Shredding her vanity with passion
Like she was in heaven

Swallowing her pride to stay
She doesn’t want to be away

Her fingers clawed at the air
Something that’s fair and square

In her tongue-in-cheek humour
That’s always full of her allure
