R is for Rondelet

The Rondelet is a French form consisting of a single septet with two rhymes and one refrain: AbAabbA. The capital letters are the refrains, or repeats. The refrain is written in tetra-syllabic or dimeter and the other lines are twice as long – octasyllabic or tetrameter.

We’re so lucky
Beautiful things around us all
We’re so lucky
Mountains, forests and big blue sea
Birds and bees all having a ball
Dogs bark, cows moo and insects crawl
We’re so lucky

Grateful we are
For blessings we get every day
Grateful we are
Sun shining and twinkling stars
People stop and smile, children play
Grateful we are
