Hello everyone! Just got back from our five-day Malta trip. It was our second time to visit Malta and we really had a great time. Here’s our view from our balcony.
On the first day we walked around Valletta, its capital. The walled city was established in the 1500s on a peninsula by the Knights of St. John, a Roman Catholic order. It’s known for museums, palaces and grand churches. Baroque landmarks include St. John’s Co-Cathedral, whose opulent interior is home to the Caravaggio masterpiece “The Beheading of Saint John.”
St John’s Co-Cathedral is a gem of Baroque art and architecture. It was built as the conventual church for the Knights of St John. The Grand Masters and several knights donated gifts of high artistic value and made enormous contributions to enrich it with only the best works of art. This church is till this very day an important shrine and a sacred place of worship. It is also a venue for cultural events.
We went on a harbour cruise which started from The Strand at Sliema. This trip took about two hours. First the boat visited Marsamxetto Harbour and then it went out in the open sea and from there it entered the Grand Harbour. Magnificent views and scenes that were very difficult to forget. Amazing!
I have to do a second post for the rest of our holidays. For now, have a lovely week!
So, what made you smile this week?
