Holiday in Hamburg, part 1

Hello everyone! Hope you’re all fine. We’ve just got back from our five-day trip in Hamburg. Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It’s crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes.

Here’s the view from our room.

We walked along the Alster lake.

Here are the main train station and the theatre.

Here’s me in front of the town hall. The city’s central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael’s Church.

We went to see the International Maritime Museum. There’s a huge collection of model ships, art, uniforms & photographs in Hamburg’s oldest preserved warehouse.

Sunset from our room.

Last but not the least, our hamburger in Hamburg.

  2. Beautiful clock! The train station looks busy – did you go by train? The maritime museum looks so interesting! How serendipitous, unlike “real” Americans, we seldom eat a hamburger, (=you ate a hamburger in Hamburg:):) ), but this weekend we did! Thank you much for sharing your stay in Hamburg with All Seasons!! Have a lovely week!

  3. The hamburger looks fantastic! This is one city I really want to visit. Just trying to figure out when is the question as we already have the next few holidays booked, and from Frankfurt it is too far to drive just for a day trip. Have to look on the calander because maybe we could go up for the weekend. Anyway, looks like you had a fantastic time.

  4. We never got as far North as Hamburg when we lived in Germany, it looks like a wonderful city and I’m so glad you had such a lovely time there. The Maritime Museum would be fascinating, so is the very old architecture mingled with new. I definitely smiled at that huge hamburger, I bet it was delicious! I am glad you are experiencing so many different places while you stay in Germany, those memories will remain with you forever! XOXO
