A month with Yeats: Day Seven

tenor

These lines are from ‘To the Rose Upon the Rood of Time’ by W.B. Yeats.

‘…stars, grown old

In dancing silver-sandalled on the sea,

Sing in their high and lonely melody.’

Stars twinkle in the night
Glowing to our delight
Singing eternal melody
Reflection by the sea
That grow in our hearts
Compare celestial charts
Telling ancient history
Coming with a soft plea
From where they come
All of them awesome
In dreams or in space
Dancing with grace
Rose-breath scattering
All these things baffling
Perpetual awakening
Of nature so alluring
