A Month with Yeats: Day Twelve

Today’s quote from the poetry of W.B. Yeats is taken from ‘The Rose of the World’.

‘He made the world to be a grassy road
Before her wandering feet.’

A taunting mission as we wander
In fields of poppies in acres
Of disbelief as we slide in dirt
Carrying on even though we’re hurt
As we test the lessons learned in war
Some chapters in our memoir
Paying tribute to those who fought for us
With roses and lavenders as plus
What is clear is forgiveness and not fury
We are all free that is the key
As we bow our heads on grassy fields
Men and women fighting in battlefields
