A Month with Yeats: Day Seventeen

from ‘Aedh Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven’.

‘The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,’ —W.B. Yeats

The sky is blue and heaven’s up
In my dream the night envelops
Like some embroidered cloth spread
By my feet I tried to stitch each one thread up

The blue and white pattern of sky
With the wind the cloud passes by
Can they stay a little bit longer?
For you my love I offer everything so high*
