Music Prompt Challenge #16: “Everglow” by Cold Play #amwriting #musicchallenge #music

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “End of Summer” by Stanley Kunitz: air, light, hinge, worm, song, stubble, silo, over, iron, clangs, blows, order

A hinge of sorrow as I sang this song
Wind blows air whereas our love so strong
Come back! Come back! We miss you so
You left us a long time ago
A love as strong as an ironclad
Come back to us, we all miss you our Dad

You used to give us order and guidance
We swam in the azure, there was balance
You left! You left! And we’re so sad
Miss your cooking, we have to add
Like a silo holding grain, you’re our light
You left us over to a place so bright

We cried out in pain as loud as a clang
But we can’t complain, you’re yin to our yang
Everglow! Everglow! Our Dad
Still in our hearts what we had
We could still see your smile and big belly
Everglow your memories make us glee*

  1. Lady Lee you truthfully capture the sorrow in this song through your Dad. I can see how much is passing hurts you still and I’m sorry for that. But you also are excellent capturing the essence of your dads ‘Everglow’ in your life in the lines “come back, come back, we miss you,” and in the final Stanza. Thanks so much for participating!
