A Month with Yeats: Day Twenty-One

from ‘The Ragged Wood”

‘…by water among the trees
The delicate-stepping stag and his lady sigh’ —W.B. Yeats

come high water and down the lake
a love that shines and doesn’t ache
golden key of my heart to thee
you blush, the colour of a rose
hurry up before we all froze
check the image seen by the sea

down on my knee asking your hand
as the bird flew by the strand
and the waves gently wash away
the sun is coming down to set
and you my love I’m glad we met
we’ll have a great time everyday

and if I may love you always
in God we praise in every way*
