Worth A Thousand Words # 5 – The fisherman

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “At the Other End of a Wire” by Sandra Lim: eyes, indigence, better, shift, fog, shout, distress, alone, emboldened, happy, bitterness, thought

Alone in the sea catching fish
Though a bit foggy, the waves are calmer
I thought to myself, such a happy way to live
Wish I could catch squid and bluefish

Bluefish which I hauled from the coast
Better still is the blue runner or trout
I’ll shout for joy if I caught plenty of sea bass
The wind has shifted on my post

Post in distress when I need help
Eyes wide open, always ready to act
I try my best towards relief of indigence
When in pain, I utter a yelp

Yelp of surprise when I was thrown
Out of my boat when the strong wind came
I was lucky some ship came and has rescued me
And I have to go home alone*
