THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “A Ritual to Read to Each Other” by William E. Stafford: know, miss, shrug, fragile, horrible, should, tail, cruelty, lost, fool, darkness, discourage
Swept away with the wind, her hair looked a mess
She looked so fragile as she shrug them all
Like a lost child, she takes the ride nonetheless
Perhaps horrible darkness her befall
We should discourage her nevertheless
Like a fool she still dreams of a windfall
She misses him and the fun they used to share
She knows he’ll come back and they’ll be a pair*
