Except without her, he couldn’t make a decent pie.

The kettle on the hob
Iron still hot
Love his corn on the cob
Does what he was taught

Iron still hot
But except without her
The pie he had bought
And everything seems blur

Love his corn on the cob
Can’t make decent pie
Without her he can sob
And boy, he can cry

Does what he was taught
Spoonful of sugar
His longing with fraught
His life without vigour*
