THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “I Stop Writing the Poem” by Tess Gallagher: fold, shirt, woman, standing, matter, nothing, hands, watching, bring, poem, somewhere, done

Isabella and the lost sea urchins
Somewhere in time watching each one of us
The woman all in white standing there
With nothing in her hands no matter what

The lost sea urchins are folding themselves
Their lives in the ocean can bring poems
What they have done nobody remembers
Such an odd pair, Isabella and them

With white shirt and hat, she looks stunning
Always wriggling are the lost sea urchins
By the ocean as the tides coming in
Together they play and swim in the sea

Isabella and the lost sea urchins
Such an intriguing pair but they get on*
