OctPoWriMo Day 22 – Transfixed on the doorway to nothingness

The_Persistence_of_Memory

Transfixed on the doorway to nothingness
Nothingness and the world fell apart
Apart with all the darkness
Darkness when he broke her heart

With heavy heart they said goodbye
Goodbye to the love that was
Was only theirs to share
Share but now without a cause

Will she be able to see the light?
Light at the end of the tunnel?
Tunnel that will give her strength?
Strength with the lesson that won’t crumble?*

  1. I know in retrospect that most of the time when my “relationships” (such as they were) broke up, the Universe was doing me a solid. At the time, my self-esteem was so low that I believed the only way I could be complete was if there was a man in my life.

  2. I love the way you structured this poem. Great idea repeating the words like you did on every third line. I always love to challenge myself in little ways like that whenever I write a poem. Makes it more challenging and I always love a good challenge. 😉
