THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “My Own Heart…” by Gerard Manley Hopkins: heart, comfort, wet, smile, unforseen, self, get, pity, tormented, eyes, advise, mile
Miles and miles of being away
My tormented heart gone astray
Unforseen battles on their way
Still I smile when I’m at play
The worn steps welcoming me
I’m at home and I’m full of glee
The comfort of being at home
Eyes wander at the garden gnome
Different things I get when I roam
Advise me to visit the dome
Could be dry, could be wet, the steps
Pity I don’t know what is next
For myself I have shortcomings
Don’t know what I am becoming
Looking for something and running
I calm down when I’m homecoming
The worn steps are always there
Where I belong fair and square*

Wonderful! I love worn steps. You just marvel at their history, their ability to still be there and the millions that must have trod them.
