100 Word Wednesday: 167 – Lost shoes

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “In Passing” by Lisel Mueller: strained, honey, light, flows, darkness, closed, shrugs, mystery, break, can, lost, precious

The mystery of the running shoes

Left on the shady sidewalk

Perhaps they’re lost, mother would be crossed

Precious light as we run round the block

Give us a break, don’t make us strained

Life is as sweet as honey

Mother would be crossed, perhaps they’re lost

And even when the day is sunny

We can do this, run around the block

Air flows and the darkness breeze

Perhaps they’re lost, mother would be crossed

Those shoes that were left under the trees

We shrug, we don’t know what to do

On the pavement are blue shoes

Mother would be crossed, perhaps they’re lost*
