OctPoWriMo Day 19 – What’s today?

It was still dark when I woke up

Him Indoors gave me a nice cup

Of tea and I gave him a yup

Got to get up to have a scrub

I have to go to town to work

In a peculiar way I quirk

The tortoises still asleep

Smelled so musky so I sweep

Heard a loud sound so I just leap

That was the alarm clock so cheap

Had my brownies that was so sweet

Opened the windows heard the tweet

Had to iron my skirt and blouse

Had to quickly tidy the house

Because last night I saw a mouse

Had to look for it use a dowse

Enough talk now for I’ll be late

Work doesn’t wait, be there at eight*

  • The LaCharta, created by Laura Lamarca, consists of a minimum of 3 stanzas with no maximum length stipulation. Each stanza contains 6 lines. The syllable count is 8 per line in iambic tetrameter and the rhyme scheme is aaaabb ccccdd eeeeff and so on. “La” is Laura Lamarca’s signature and “Charta” in Latin, simply means “poem”.
