Tale Weaver – #301 – The End – November 12th

On the brink of the cliff hanging

End of a beautiful friendship

Gazing at the sky, heart aching

It didn’t work and so baffling

She thought their love would be endless

On the brink of the cliff hanging

It ended like a crash landing

Although at first it was splendid

Gazing at the sky, heart aching

Broken promises so damning

The end of a perfect blendship

On the brink of the cliff hanging

Long walk of memories sting

The world is black as reflection

Gazing at the sky, heart aching

In the summer and in the spring

And now his name never mentioned

On the brink of the cliff hanging

Gazing at the sky, heart aching*

A Villanelle is a nineteen-line poem consisting of a very specific rhyming scheme: aba aba aba aba aba abaa.

The first and the third lines in the first stanza are repeated in alternating order throughout the poem, and appear together in the last couplet (last two lines).
