FLASH FICTION FOR THE PURPOSEFUL PRACTITIONER: 2021: WEEK #13 – Her smile got her famous

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “Famous” by Naomi Shihab Nye: river, fish, famous, fence, birds, carry, want, smile, forgot, shuffling, buttonhole, boot

Her smile got her famous

As well as her shuffling

Red boots on the catwalk

Guess it’s how she carries herself

Not a care in the world

Like she owns it

What she wants she’ll get

And she’s not going to quit

Don’t forget her pink sunglasses

Her pink hair and pink lips

Like a fish in the river

She swims with delight

Can’t fence her in

Freedom to be

Same as the birds

She wants to be free
