#WQWWC #24: Beauty/Mother’s Day Revisited

Hello everyone. I am sharing some of the posts that I have done for my mother all these years. Here she is, still beautiful at 83.

Cheers to you Mommy dear
To your health and lots more
Songs and care we adore
Love you give us that’s clear
Guiding us through the years
For you never a chore

Wishing you all the best
Not just for Mother’s Day
Every day all the way
We like your yule tide zest
You are always well dressed
Your singing and your sway

Wish we could be with you
We love you that’s so true*

The HexSonnetta

Let me start with this
Although we are different
My Mum and I are the same
Same focus, both cool
We’re not so good in business
Or being tidy
Sometimes we forget some things
It doesn’t matter
When it comes to having fun
We know what to do
The town is always painted
Red, blue or yellow
Would do anything for her

Her beauty astounds us all
Life’s always a breeze so she flits
Broke into one and a million bits
Of love and care, to us her kids
Of time and devotion, no problem
Always there, served with a smile
And so this is the time to say thanks
And the mission for which it was due

Oh Mother Dear, with your eyes twinkling like stars in cloudland
Your breath sweeter than sampaguita as we string them into a lei
Your love, patience and smile, always there as you give us a hand
Oh Mother Dear, with your eyes twinkling like stars in cloudland

We cannot show enough gratitude for bringing us up first hand
Your tenderness, completely and sweetly given to us like a bouquet
Oh Mother Dear, with your eyes twinkling like stars in cloudland
We love you to the moon and back and all planets in the milky-way

Oh mother dear, let us tell you something
You’ve always supported us come what may
With your soft smile and the joy that you bring
You’ve redirected us when we’re astray

With your love you’ve kept us safe through the years
Sacrificed your needs in favour of ours
You’ve shared with our achievements and our fears
You haven’t shown us your tears and your scars

What you drummed in on us we remember
You have brought us well, that’s why we love you
You have been a big part of what we were
You’ve been our model, look how we all grew

The centre of our lives, our rock and heart
For us you always have a special part*

  • Sonnet to our Mother

Aurora is my mother’s name

She has been telling me stories of the past

Write them down, I suggested, even just key words

Then one day we will try to put them together

Would be nice to know about our ancestors

So her children, grandchildren and the next generation

Will have a clue of what was life before

Here’s my attempt to piece together from our conversation

Baby is her nickname

Her parents thought that she was the youngest

But after eight years, my aunt arrived

Baby stucked and it suited her

She was one of the six, or was it seven?

Some of them died before they were born

For her parents, every child was a blessing*

  1. You mother is so beautiful, Lady Lee. I love the way you described her, “We’re not so good in business
    Or being tidy
    Sometimes we forget some things
    It doesn’t matter
When it comes to having fun
    We know what to do”
I can identify with that to describe my mom, too. We had so much fun together. Your pictures tell it all! Thanks for participating, M’ Lady. So great to have you each week.
