shine, sunshine, shine as we wonder
we do not get tired of singing
along the beach, also running

in a stilted manner, we stir
message in a bottle or so
some flimsy swimsuit on the show

trace our footsteps like an ambler
one of the best trips we have had
having tea at three we are glad

some boats floating with their anchor
children play and run in a line
this is better than wine and dine

watch the waves in the sea azure
on such a fine day together
wish to stay the same as we were*

With friends and family
Lying in the sun
Lovely day to be free

With friends and family
Children mess around
Want some shopping spree
Sand is their fairground

Lying in the sun
Don’t forget the sun cream
Dizzy as she spun
Splashing by the stream

Lovely day to be free
Lovers say sweet things
Wish they were in Bali
See what life springs**

Greek girls picking up pebbles on the beach
Their fingernails becoming brown from them
Sea breeze and under the sun their clothes bleached

Soldiers come back, saying a prayer each
Not to get wet holding on to their hems
Greek girls picking up pebbles on the beach

Their bodies covered with pink, white and peach
Waiting at the doors, they were such a gem
Sea breeze and under the sun their clothes bleached

They later found some papers at their reach
They want their soldiers back alive, these femmes
Greek girls picking up pebbles on the beach

They followed everything from what was preached
And of course, they don’t want to be condemned
Sea breeze and under the sun their clothes bleached

They want them back, alive, a soldier each
They lovingly dedicate this poem
