WQWWC #28: Summer 2021

Chill on the best summer ever
Sand, sea, sun and cool drinks
Swim with friends in the cool azure
Singing fun songs in syncs
Long days, short nights and the warm breeze
Cooling under the shade of trees
Long days, short nights
Long days, short nights
Don’t want this to end, one agrees

Chill on the best summer ever
It’s the smile and the kiss
Happy to share with our laughter
Watch the sunset, such bliss
I’m just here, counting my blessing
Picking up flowers and biking
I am just here
I am just here
In the sea swimming and diving

Chill on the best summer ever
Don’t let the colours fade
Because I am such a dreamer
The waves are like cascade
Footprints in the sand and all marks
Listen to the songs of skylarks
Footprints in the sand
Footprints in the sand
Walk hand in hand along some parks*

The Trijan Refrain

Have fun in the summer
Spirits run with the wind
The earth breathes just like us
Everyone relaxes
Lie in the sun a plus

Have fun in the summer
Forget the past, move on
Writing a memoir aids
Time heals and dulls the pain
And of course, the scar fades

Have fun in the summer
More time with families
Camping and holidays
Swimming, roller blading
And lots of other ways

Have fun in the summer
Tortoise in the garden
Apples and grapes growing
Cycling to beer garden
Kids on slides and swing**

*** The Blitz Poem

The shore that call us home
Was the title of the poem
By Samuel Hazo in 1949
Makes me think about my life
Every time I go home and meet my
Family, friends and relatives again
After some time when I’m here
And they are there living differently
Yet parallel to each other, there’s this
Nostalgic feeling, of being home again
This land or these islands I miss so much
It doesn’t matter where I am now, and
I’m building a home with my family here
But over there where I used to call home
Full of childhood memories, of school,
Of college, of my first experience at work
First love, first kiss, first of everything
These experiences made me and taught me
They gave me a solid foundation of how
It is to be me, all the trials and errors
They gave me the confidence to try and
Explore different things and I have proved
That I can do it no matter where
So even when I’m happy here
I’d still be a girl with a fringe
I’d always go back to the shore
That calls me home, the Philippines

water moved softly round my toes
and sultry air caressing me
wispy clouds across
boats rise and fall in the lock
one lazy hazy day
sea lay without a ripple
cupped my hands and drank water
drips falling from lips
ah, the sweet taste of heaven
cool and refreshing
rough winds shake the darling buds
more lovely and temperate
palm trees swaying
clouds scudding across the sky
heaven knows why
have picnics by the seabed
open sunlit grass, cloudless
splashing with the waves
friends waiting for the sunset
the joy of summer
light of the silvery moon
never ending stories

Cold beer on a hot summer night
In the park where we can fly kite
By the lake where swans and ducks glide
With the brass band they play so well
In the park where the weather swell
Riding our bikes oh such joyride
Eating sausages and French fries
Oh what a night such clear skies
And the joy of being outside

all through the night
singing and dancing with joy
tired and sleepy

birds flying as dawn breaks
memories on shortest night

We were in the Philippines one holiday and the night was clear. All the stars, planets and the moon were there, and they were amazing to watch. So Him Indoors and I decided to lie down on the grass as we admired them. We felt so tiny compared to the universe, but glad that we were all part of it. Great night to remember!

starlight star bright
making a wish as we count
amazing wonder
