Autumn Quotes

light streaming as I walk

autumn’s here

the sheen from the leaves and changes

I walk around the block

gives me cheer

seeking peace along the ranges

like a moth to the loch

free to fear

nothing like people’s exchanges

I see lines of birds flock

daily care

sharp turn on the local granges

trying on my new frock

the day’s clear

afternoon’s walk no shortchanges

rose bent its thorny stalk

daring shear

love autumn’s mood and its changes*

I woke up this morning, the air was fresh, cool breeze and dark time. Children on their bikes, waiting for each other to go to school. Summer is over, children are cheerful with their back packs. The wind whispering as crispy leaves fall from trees, heaps of gold, brown and red on the ground. It’s also time for harvest, our grapes by our front door and the two apple trees at the back. There was not a lot of harvest this year, enough to stew the apples for apple crumble and pies, and the grapes for some juice. We are very grateful for the produce.

autumn like a dream
when the wind brushes the leaves
fairy tale that weaves

kids back to school
cheerful to see each other
summer is over

harvesting apples
crisp copper leaves falling off
chilling the air

peaceful resonance
wind brushing the wind chime
heavenly note

withering flowers
wind has caused yellow leaves fall
nature is weary

autumn’s golden voice
sing with song of fruit and flowers
hills fled from our sight

It was a lovely autumn afternoon. Marcia went hiking and saw jagged cliffs, rolling tundra and some scarecrows on her way. The countryside is ablaze with colour in autumn. It made her forget her misery, of how John after 15 years of marriage, has ditched her in favour of that 26 year old glamour model. She could imagine them in their typical perversity involving a padlock and a whip somewhere. “Stop torturing yourself,” she reprimanded herself. She always knew that John has an affinity to new adventures. It could also be that this was just an example of him going through his midlife crisis. Anyway, it was all over for them and they are now living parallel lives. “Let him carry on with his life and I’ll concentrate on mine,” she persuaded herself. By now, the light had faded and dusk was advancing. She was getting hungry. As she went back to her car, she was planning her meal for tonight – lasagne and apple strudel with currants and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. And then she would have a nice long bath, complete with scented candles and soft music. She was looking forward to that.

Trees of autumn gold and rust coloured leaves
Cold breeze in the air that’s so refreshing

Clouds overlap each other, sky’s so grey
The apple of the seasons, autumn comes

Juicy apples grow, fountain shimmering
Withering flowers, sky flushes with gold

Autumn’s voice sing with songs of birds and fruits
Wind brushes the leaves as we walk, they crunch

Stars and moon twirling, like dancers swaying
Under the moonlight holding hands with you

Singing our hearts and professing our love
We kissed and nature is our sole witness

Crunching autumn leaves whirling in the wind
Autumn comes as the sweet song of the year

  1. Hi Lady Lee, I’m enjoying your beautiful music putting me into the autumn mood as I read your post and comment. You have some absolutely gorgeous pictures for this post, Lady. I love the large red tree, the tower with all the fallen leaves, and the gourds. Fun post, my friend, for everyone but Marcia. 🙂
