WQWWC #46: Spooky

The autumn chill descended over town
and with it came rot and ruin and chill
a place of gloom where people are let-down
through the night air a piercing whistle shrill
and the wolf prancing around with his kill
my heart seems to stop on this eerie night
canopy of bright stars above the hill
the howling wind, it’s time to fight or flight
and with this, am I having a meltdown?
too much stress, and I’m feeling being drown*

The Decuain

The moon is dark
I was out on my own
It was a gloomy fright night
Dark, terrifying, mysterious of a night
Zombies abound with their gruesome faces
A cackle from the witch as the moon disappeared
Eerie feeling as the tombstones growled and opened
And they all started waking up and wandering about
The eve of the Halloween and that was what I was scared of

The Stenham house was an ancient locked thing and nothing returned there except for crows
The crows kept flying around the house making some harsh caw as the cold air blows
In this house of seclusion an eerie feeling as the willowy tree bows its leaves
There was some sense of foreboding or danger even for thieves
The fog of despair felt if one seeks the beaten track to the house
Still a scaffold was put in front of this ancient locked house
There used to be a tree full of nectarines, the crows ate them
The overgrown grasses serve as ban for the condemn
I used to live there, aware that I’m now just the spirit of an old woman
I was up all night waiting for him, he came, we argued and I was bludgeon
A terrible thing happened there and my blood was everywhere
He ran, left the country and couldn’t be found anywhere
I roam and roam until justice could be done, but to no avail
Just the crows and they’re the only ones who could hear my wail

Adventurous as she was, she walked further and further from her friends
They have agreed to hike the Black Forest and other places at the weekends
Looking at all the exotic plants and trees, she didn’t noticed she’s getting lost
And that she’s moving around going back and forth and the paths crisscrossed
By the time it was getting dark, she didn’t know what to do, how to get help
She bumped into something mossy and spooky, that’s when she uttered a yelp
Only silence in that eerie place, she’s imagining a lot of different scenario
Will she be killed by bears, will she die like a saint, this is what she foreknow
She waits; such tight corner she has entered and she doesn’t seem to get out

Is it wrong to search my soul?
So I know what indeed is my role
When I wonder deep down its meaning
And forgiveness I am begging
When I pushed the cobwebs of lies
And each one has his lows and highs
Is it wrong to find atonement?
When there was a creepy silent?

don’t walk away
an atonement to play
haunted by the past
the horror aghast
eerie silence
air of grievance
a solemn requiem
our hearts are numb
of people who didn’t make it
when they were split
separation and fate
such a heavy weight
don’t walk away

oh so spooky
as I entered the house rats dived
oh so spooky
then the front door shut as I plea
a foul stench came as I arrived
I fainted but then I revived
oh so spooky**

  1. Lady Lee, you’ve got quite the ghoulish imagination this week! Rats! A house was in the news because a hoarder died in it and thousands of rats took over. The police had to send in drones! You would faint there and never wake up!!!

I definitely have a fear of getting lost in the woods. I would not survive!

Thanks for sharing these great quotes and all your scary poems!
