Let me stand on my head
Don’t call me an egghead
I’ve got a mission to make
Lots of things are at stake
Keep track of what’s happening
When life is ever so baffling
Making sense of the world
Some stuff to me hurled
For that I need to balance
It’s not any sort of science
I just want to focus and think
If it doesn’t work, do a rethink
Let me stand on my head
Don’t call me an egghead

It’s a new day, a new dawn
Dawn so amazing to wake up to
To accept the challenges it gives
Gives us the freedom to continue
Moments come and go
Go with the flow, I always say
Say what we wish, do what we want
Want to sleep, rest, work, love and play
At the end of the day, the sun sets
Sets and organises us to dream
Dream to our heart’s content
Content to go downstream
Seize every moment we’ve got
Got to experience love and pain
Pain that will make us stronger
Stronger in our body, soul and brain*

In the thick of it we hope to shine through
Let’s be quick even without any clue
Be quick! Be quick! Open the show
Movers and shakers as we grow
So much time, we have a lot to bequeathe
Be quick, don’t sigh and gasp, just learn to breathe
In the thick of it, movers and shakers
Tough but let’s not quit and be some shapers
Light up! Light up! Follow our dreams
We know everything, so it seems
Bark the vision, go for it in rhythm
Light up in the morning, divine wisdom**

** The Staccato

In between the clover and the dampened earth
Two different entities rolling into one
You turn and look at me with eyes full of mirth
Victory but somehow missing in action
There are some evidence with great potential
I’m afraid of losing what has just begun
There’s something in the air, thanks while I’m able
In between the sonnet and the buoyant prose
Decide whether to battle or to crumble
Hand in hand we watch the sunset as love grows
We promise no more goodbyes always hellos***

Shape our future with every breath
Might be fraught with danger or with tension
Moment comes and goes, make the most of what it is
To thrust, to sigh and to enwreathe
Enwreathe ourselves with glimpse of hope
Shift from negative to positive thoughts
And also shift from high to low expectation
Promise to be able to cope
Cope we try and always commit
Be kind and help each other as we can
Count our blessing as we grow together with faith
Carry on and let us not quit
Quit no more on this landscape
Adventure is what we want in this world
Come rain or shine we have to plough through and to lead
Be part of our future to shape****

I love the line, “Whatever you did last year, do it better.” Lady Lee. As someone who likes to flit from one hobby to another, That line speaks to me. Let’s do poetry – even more even better. Let’s take better pictures and learn more about processing. That line says it for me! 🙂 Thanks for sharing and being such a strong support of WQW.

marsha – I liked that line from lady lee manilla too – however, in my case – I was a little exhausted last year (it was my hindsight word for 2021)) and so I do NOT want to do that better – hahah –

No, there are many things that I don’t want to repeat from last year. I’m not playing pickleball, that’s for sure!
