#WRITEPHOTO – Slit

Slit – Image by KL Caley
For visually challenged writersthe image shows an ancient window slit beyond which you can see water and trees.

THIS WEEK’S WORDS come from “The Locust” by Leonora Speyer: hot, cool, air, ecstatic, voice, tree, small, edge, sizzles, burn, flame, sunbeams

From that small window slit a tree

Golden tree like sunbeams burning

Sizzling flame on a hot air free

From that small window slit a tree

A voice was heard making a plea

Edge of destruction all mourning

From that small window slit a tree

Golden tree like sunbeams burning*

  • A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.
