We went for a pizza last night

Took Granny with us in the site

She had ambrosia for dessert

We had pizza covered with ham

Granny ordered one with some clam

A stranger had his eyes avert

Red sauce spilled on his shirt, my boy

Girl laughed at brother to annoy

Pizzas came scaldingly hot

Secret is to talk and just wait

All ingredients melded on plate

And as we ate, gossips and fun

And all the pun at any rate*

  • A Jeffreys Sonnet was created by Scott J. Alcorn. It is isosyllabic (only 8 syllable per line), 2 sestets with a cross rhymed couplet (the cross rhyme is in the 2nd to 4th syllable in each of the two lines of the couplet). Also there is a cross rhyme in the first line of the 2nd sestet (between the 2nd to 4th syllable), tying the 1st sestet to the 2nd. So the rhyme scheme would be: aabccb, (b)ddeffe, (e)g (g)e.

I always enjoy learning new forms, and your wonderful examples! I loved the sister laughing just to annoy her brother. My brothers were too old for me to do that, but my daughter probably did that a lot to her younger brother!
