Wordle #289 – Our Marriage

On our marriage we feel blessed

We travel, we strife, all with zest

Of course, it was hard at first

Snigger, misunderstanding at worst

We make up, we deserve the best

Thirty six years, who could have guessed?

To celebrate we drink champagne fizz

Never judging but noticing our firsts

On our marriage

Any problem before bedtime we address

We talk, we fight, we laugh and all the rest

Pluck our courage not to have hearts burst

Each quirk and eccentricity we are versed

Through thick or thin, we’re one soul at best

On our marriage*

  • A Rondeau is a French form, 15 lines long, consisting of three stanzas: a quintet, a quatrain, and a sestet with a rhyme scheme as follows: aabba aabR aabbaR. Lines 9 and 15 are short – a refrain (R) consisting of a phrase taken from line one. The other lines are longer (but all of the same metrical length).

  1. Oh, how very nice! I’ve said it before, but I really do enjoy seeing the forms you use. So much thought put into your poems. If this is autobiographical, congratulations on all the years of marriage! It’s something to be proud of. Work, yes, but pride for making it work.
