“Christmas isn’t a season, it’s a feeling”

I love Christmas and winter solstice

Celebrating with family and friends

Evergreen inside, mulled wine and all this

It’s the giving, cooperation without ends

Familiar tradition without a flinch

Celebrating with family and friends

Not just grazing on food but having a binge

This year I’m going on simplicity or minimal

Familiar tradition without a flinch

Illustrate something that is printable

On popular publication that is a must

This year I’m going on simplicity or minimal

Snowy season and wishing at the stardust

A Christmas Carol and Beethoven 9th Symphony

On popular publication that is a must

Nutcracker which they danced brilliantly

I love Christmas and winter solstice

Ending of La Boheme I have their sympathy

Evergreen inside, mulled wine and all this*

*The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.

It was the first time that Him Indoors went to the Philippines. Everything was new for him. The heat, the traffic, all the families and relatives and friends who were all excited to have met him at last, some customs and traditions. Especially at this time of the year – it was Christmas time! But where was the snow, the cold, the turkey, minced pies, Christmas pudding? Surely, it didn’t feel like Christmas to him, as he was swimming in the sea, as he was stuck in the traffic, as he was unbearably hot, as he was having a barbeque at a beach on Christmas Day. Children were singing Christmas carols with their homemade instruments of bamboos, smashed up tin cans held by wires. People were hearing mass at dawn. And for food, they were all Filipino food like adobo, lumpia, kesong bilog, cured ham, leche flan, suman, bibingka, puto bumbong. And on Christmas Eve, people heard mass on midnight and had their “Noche Buena” – the evening meal and that was when they exchanged gifts.

No snow, not feel right
Christmas in the Philippines
Barbeque on beach
People having fun all day
Lots of people everywhere

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
Remembering the birth of Jesus Christ
We all try to spread love in different ways

Baking cookies and anything spiced
Being cosy inside by the fireplace
Shovelling snow and the road are all iced

Jesus was born to save us and give grace
Let’s not forget the poor and the homeless
That everyone feel safe in anyplace

Let the season be merry, no stress
Remember Christ was born in a manger
Let’s all celebrate it nevertheless

Christ, Mary and Joseph the carpenter
Born in Bethlehem with a bright star
Son of God was born to make us better

Drinking mulled wine in a Christmas bazaar
Having mince pie, eating cake in slice
Thinking of our loved ones who are afar

Let’s all rejoice for the coming of Christ
God gave us His Son to be sacrificed
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
We all try to spread love in different ways**

Oh how I love the visit to the Kriskringlemarkts. We were talking about that yesterday. They definitely capture Christmas as it should be and you did a great job showcasing it. Merry Christmas.

I enjoyed that, although I’d find the form quite hard to do myself. Thank you for introducing me to it.

Merry Christmas Lady Lee. You have put me in the mood with all your holiday photos, poems and Sir Elton John’s song. An all-sensory experience – as much as the computer can offer us. 🙂
