My mother is a sparkling individual

individual doing her own thing

thing that makes her glow

glow for us children under her wing

My mother likes reading

reading books in libraries

libraries with nonfiction books

books with challenge and adversaries

My mother taught us about freedom

freedom to live, speak, do what we like

like as long as we also think of others

others we meet in our hike*
