Visita Iglesia

1. Hello everyone. I am so grateful that I’ve visited a couple of churches while I was in the Philippines. The first one was Padre Pio Shrine in Santo Tomas, Batangas. The structure of the main church is made mostly of indigenous materials such as wood, stone, bamboo, sasa or nipa leaves and sawali or woven bamboo strips. The shape of its roof resembles a salakot, a traditional Filipino hat used by farmers and fishermen in their respective agricultural activities as their protection against heat and rains. At the top of the roof stands the image of Our Lady of Mercy. The structure is open so that the pilgrims can enter and exit freely.

2. Next stop was the Montemaria, which is strategically located at the southernmost tip of Batangas Bay in Batangas City. The site is 30 minutes away from the central district of Batangas City, and accessible by concrete road and by sea. It is situated on a plateau overlooking the Verde Island Passage and the entrance to Batangas Bay of almost all vessels coming from Southern Philippines and international vessels entering China Sea to use the Batangas International Port. The centerpiece is the 315 feet (96 meters) Statue of Mary, Mother of all Asia, which is dedicated to Unity and Peace of the peoples and countries of this part of the world.

3. The Metropolitan Cathedral of Saint Sebastian, commonly known as the Lipa Cathedral, is a Romanesque church in Lipa, Batangas, Philippines. The cathedral serves as the seat of the Archdiocese of Lipa. The Cathedral was chosen as the seat of the then Diocese of the Lipa in 1910.

4. We also passed by the Our Lady of the Pillar, in Alaminos, Laguna. It was first established in 1815 and is built in the farthest corner of “hacienda de Calauan” owned by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi. The image of the Virgin Mary kept in this church is said to be miraculous and devotees, with their prayers and petitions, flock here during the festival, honouring the Lady of the Pillar. The church has been recently restored and the exterior design has been well preserved.

5. The Minor Basilica and Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, also known as Manila Cathedral, is the cathedral of Manila and basilica located in Intramuros, the historic walled city within today’s modern city of Manila, Philippines.

6. Last but not the least, is the San Agustin Church, which is a Roman Catholic church under the auspices of The Order of St. Augustine, located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros in Manila.
