It was a contest like no other
Other than the one the family’s throwing
Throwing challenges big and small
Small wonder it’s ongoing
A contest we never forget
Forget others, this is what we want
Want stories to tell morning and evening
Evening after the meal with our aunt
Lead us to the contest
Contest of perseverance and how
How well you can lead the horse
Horse to grass we plough
The contest is never black nor white
White or could be narrow or wide
Wide as the valley and the blue sky
Sky as long as we always tried*

- Loop Poetry is a poetry form created by Hellon. There are no restrictions on the number of stanzas nor on the syllable count for each line. In each stanza, the last word of the first line becomes the first word of line two, last word of line 2 becomes the first word of line 3, last word of line 3 becomes the first word of line 4. This is followed for each stanza. The rhyme scheme is abcb.

How nice for the family in the poem to have the fun of the challenge, but not the competitiveness. “As long as we always tried” is the best way. I know families that take it too seriously.
